Exiting year for Aarhus
Aarhus is the cultural capital of Europe 2017. It will mean a lot of exiting cultural experiences for me in many art forms and of course a lot of work with great projects especially with Aarhus Sinfonietta. I am looking forward to all this will bring to our city’s cultural life.
2017 is also the year I start my large scale artistic research project funded by the Danish Art Counsil with 100.000$ It is a huge privilege to have the opportunity to have time for working that much with the artistic process and modern methods of practising percussion based on my well-known Ki-Aikido principles. And I look forward to publish all the results.
In the autumn 2017 I will end my other research project - on marimba sound, writing research articles and getting the conclusion both on the international expert panel survey and the spectral analysis of different approaches. This research includes percussion students from Juilliard School of Music and Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
Commissions: This year brings a solo-percussion concert by Lasse Laursen premiere in March, and January 2018 a solo-percussion concert by Laura Bowler with premiere in Manchester UK. The Aarhus Sinfonietta will premiere 6 new works, including a rewriting of Bach’s Christmans Oratory by one of the most famous young Danish composers Thomas Agerfeldt. Lasse Schwanenflügel Piazecky works in 2017 on a percussion duo performance piece - which include a Sadistic machine that might cut fingers…
In the more popular world 2017 introduced New Year concert in duo version: Marimba/Aluphone and Soprano with the fabulous Nickie Johansson. Hard work and GREAT fun!
