Artistic Reseach Project 2024-2026  Between and Beyond
Supported by the Danish Ministry of Culture and Royal Academy of Music Aarhus

Exploring exchanges of interdisciplinary methods in music and dance

The project investigates the development of a collaborative practice focused on exchanging techniques and expressions across various art forms to enhance artistic growth and opportunities.

This initiative is a partnership between musicians Henrik Knarborg and Christian Windfeld, along with dancers Laura Black and Carolina Bäckman. Over the course of six workshops spanning two years, we engage with a diverse array of artists and adapt our methods by embracing different perspectivesThe former project, Manus Obscurus, served as the pilot project, culminating in a performance featuring two percussionists who explored a dance-inspired approach, including audience participation.

The results of the two-year-long project should include methods that can be used by artists interested in new inspiration while working in multidisciplinary settings or expanding the methods of their own field. We aim to share our new knowledge through documentary videos and a research article about the process and results. We also invite diverse array of artists to the final symposiums and presentations to share and discuss our views in a group representing a broad perspective.
